How We Got Here...
Before software, I worked in insurance for over a decade. I became burnt out and realized I wanted a change.
I just finished the fist year of a two-year program at NBCC and couldn’t be happier.

A little bit more about me…
I was born in Saint John, NB but grew up in in the small town of Dalhousie, NB. We moved there when my Dad got at the local pulp and paper mill. Meanwhile my mother found work as a school teacher in the area. I lived there from the time I was one up until eighteen, when the mill shutdown permanently.
I loved playing sports when I was growing up. Never much of an athlete, but what I lacked in physical prowess I made up for with determination. I played basketball throughout school, shot competitive archery, and golfed at the local golf course in the summers.
I took intro to Comp Sci at Mount Allison with Dr. Laurie Ricker during my undergrad. It wasn’t until years later that I saw the potential behind coding as a career.
I think my ‘aha moment’ was listening to a David Bombal podcast titled “Computer Science Isn’t Programming // How to Become a Master Programmer // Featuring Dr Chuck”.
We have a Westie, Vega, who runs the show. We also have a Husky mix, Zuko who loves to make new friends. (See photos below)
I still enjoy golfing in the summer time. I’ve caddied the last three years at the Omnium NB Explore Open in Mactaquac, NB for fun. I’m a member of the Fredericton Fish and Game Club and like to get outdoors whenever I can whether it be fishing, hunting or camping.
Coding something meaningful with similar minded people here in Fredericton NB.
Everyone should travel and explore the world around them at least once. My motto has always been to get it in while you’re young and healthy because you never know if you’ll get the chance to do it later.
Getting the chance to go back to a place I lived in for an amazing year of my life was a treat. Banff never loses it grip on you.
A hidden gem of a NB Provincial Park located just past McAdam NB. Host to about a dozen camp sites and a boat launch, it’s the perfect weekend get-away when you need to unplug.
The city built around sin but offers something for everyone. When you want a mix of shows, shopping and hiking, it has you covered. Being able to drink as you walk to a hockey game at the TMobile Arena is a nice touch.
I was able to see Eastern Europe on my travel for sales when I started my career. Prague is a beautiful city with a rich history and delicious beer.
Turkey has a charm to it that sits somewhere between Europe and the Middle East just as it lies on the map. Definitely underrated as a destination for visitors.
Krakow is my favourite city in Eastern Europe. The food is delicious and the people and very friendly. Another city with immense history that you can see as you walk through the town that still sits on cobblestone.
After my undergrad was complete, I decided to do some backpacking in SE Asia. I landed in Phuket Thailand and took advantage of some world class kickboxing training before moving on to the rest of my travels.
Experiencing a truly foreign land is something you can only experience for yourself. Everything from the food to the traffic is worlds apart from what you’re accustomed to. Stepping outside your comfort zone forces you into growth sometimes.
I finished my travels in beautiful Vietnam. I always recommend it to anyone who wants to travel in the area. Less touristy that Thailand and a range of scenery from beautiful beaches with blue water, to mountain ranges with vast jungles. If you’re a history buff, they also have many museums about the conflicts with Chinese, French and the US.
In 2012 I decided to take a year off from school and do some travelling. I landed a job working as a Bellman at The Rimrock Resort Hotel. I was able to take advantage of skiing at Sunshine Village and golf at the Fairmont Springs Golf Course (once in the same day).
I took a road trip through the Rockies from Banff into interior BC. We stayed in a few ski towns along the way but always remember my time in Revi with found memories.
I had a friend from MtA who was working at the Fairmont in Jasper that same year so I was able to get down to visit a few times. I’m always glad I did as Jasper is a more peaceful Banff in my mind.
I was able to take a trip to Las Vegas Nevada with friends from school during my time at MtA. We though we were Matt Damon walking into a poker room in Rounders.
With many of my friends from Dalhousie, N.B. attending univeristy in Halifax, N.S. it gave me an excuse to go visit. Halifax is my favourite city in Canada to this day.
Friends and I have made it a point to have a golf trip to P.E.I. each year during the shoulder seasons (usually in late May). They really have some of the best golf in Canada per capita.
I graduated from Dalhousie Regional High School (DRHS) in June of 2008.
My family moved to Fredericton NB the week after I graduated high school. Since the pulp and paper mill closed my parents had to relocate to find work.
I decided to attend Mount A in January of 2009 to pursue an undergraduate degree.
